B & K Structures extends ISO 9001 to timber
B & K Structures turned to BM TRADA Certification Ltd to extend the scope of its ISO 9001:2008 certification. The addition of structurally engineered timber to our steelwork operations meant that we no longer had ISO 9001 scope of supply for over 50% of our business. Our original certification body, being primarily for steel construction, would not recognise timber, so we asked BM TRADA for assistance. With more than 75 years’ experience in timber and construction they were able to meet our needs.
To work within the 9001 framework means that our company is continually improving our products and efficiency through the use of quality management tools, such as customer feedback, quality audit, project launch meetings, project closure meetings and management reviews.
B & K Structures Ltd now ISO14001:2004 compliant
The move from having a standalone ISO9001 system to that of a combined 9001/14001 Integrated Management System has created a more streamlined and efficient system. This coincided with the move to our new premises and has given the whole company a new impetus and drive. This has been enhanced further by the switchover to an electronic document management system. The new document management system allows for fast content searching of electronic files and scanned documents. The system manages the lifecycle of our documentation and provides for disaster recovery of electronic and paper based information.
